Uploading and sharing a file through File Storage feature on a SmarterMail
The file storage feature in SmarterMail enables users to securely store files on the server. These files can be configured as either public or password-protected, allowing access to other users, including those outside the SmarterMail platform, for convenient and efficient file downloads. This feature is especially beneficial for sharing large attachments without affecting the email spool performance.
Note: Uploaded files contribute to the user's allocated disk space. Users are advised to delete unused files from the server to manage their disk space effectively.
Follow these steps to add a file to the storage:
1. Log in to SmarterMail as a user.
2. Click the File Storage icon.
3. Click Upload in the content pane toolbar.
4. Browse to the file and click Open.
5. A status bar will display at the bottom of the screen and will disappear after the file has been uploaded. Monitor the status bar until the upload is complete.
6. After the file has been uploaded, the file will display in the content pane. Select the file and click Edit in the content pane toolbar.
7. To share the file, check the Enable public access checkbox.
8. Click Save to finish the process.
Note: When sharing a file by inserting the public link into an email, the recipient will be directed to a file storage download page with instructions on how to access and download the file.
